My wife bought a black 1994 Bonneville SSEi used about two years ago. The former owners didn't really take care of it well (minimal mechanical maintenance and no interior care). My wife (then finace) was content on just fixing the minimal to keep it running. She loves it and appreciates it but doesn't want to put money into it. We've recently moved and I'm making a 30 min commute to work and it'* the more fuel efficient of our vehicles so it'* under my control now

Thanks to the helpful people on this forum, it looks like I should be able to fix all of the little problems it has myself. The Ride, Shift, and Traction control buttons are very sticky, half of the radio buttons on the steering wheel don't work, there'* a part under the hood which I believe is the air-compressor which runs on and off all the time while the car is off, and the middle console 'cubby-hole' has a broken latch and stays open all the time (I'll probably need to go to the junkyard/dealer to fix that properly though).

A good wash, wax, and leather treatment is top on the list. It'* only been washed a few times since she'* owned it and the last time it was waxed was at least two years ago. :(
Any recommendations for the best way to get all that oxidation off (brands/types of waxes)? Do I need to use a special wax on the non-metal parts?

As far as oxidations treatment. A new paint job would never hurt, but I got a black one too, and the Meguirs three step process works really good. Power buffer/polisher and clean pads helped out a lot.

SSEi'* are awesome but you got to be really frustrated when all those little buttons go haywire and costs a ton. Really on any top model vehicle it sucks when that happens.

as long as its running good dosent matter all that much at the moment, no? but them buttons would get annoying after a bit if you were used to um working all the time

My focus is computers & IT. Vehicles are still pretty foreign to me and I get a little paranoid about one little problem affecting the performance of the entire vehicle. I'm curious of the potential of this vehicle once I get all of the bugs worked out.
My biggest concern is that I haven't seen this car at 100% so I have no reference to know if something'* still wrong even when I get the obvious problems fixed. Once I get what I can fixed, I'll probably start adding some minimal aftermarket items (better air intake system, better plug wires, etc...) to increase performance. Hopefully that will help me find any hidden problems.
