New Member - 1999 SLE

Well, another new member to Bonnevilleclub.com. I picked up my 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SLE on February 3 of this year. When I picked it up it had 29,600 miles on it. So pretty low for the year. It's pretty much a bare bones car. Nothing special or flashy about it. I don't think it has an options. Unlike most people my age, I wasn't exactly looking for anything super quick or loaded with options to the brim, but something to get me to work and back, while looking good on the way. This is the 3rd 3800 Series II in the family. My older brother had a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, which he traded in over the summer for a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS. A nice upgrade if you ask me. He took wonderful care of his car, I was considering buying his GP from the dealership he traded it into. The only downside, it had around 100,000 miles, and they wanted $8,000 for it. My father has a 1996 Buick Regal GS. A nice all around car. Build quality isn't really what I expected but a nice car. I traded in my old beater 1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro with 96,000 miles on it. That was the third W-Body GM we've had in the family too. So 3 W-Bodies and three 3800 Series, not too bad. Well I'm glad to find a nice webside for us Bonneville enthusiasts, and hope to add a little something to the community as well!

Heh thanks, although, I don't plan any mods for it. Keep things simple, not boring, but simple. Plus, the funds arent readily available for anything anymore :)

You can always clear your side markers. That usually looks pretty good. And it is free!!

Hm, true. I like the way it looks right now really. Whenver I saw clear side markers on other cars, I couldn't help but ask why :) But free upgrades are always worth considering.

Unless you break em... :x

Seriously tho. Invest in a 180T stat...protect the upper intake manifold by keep things slightly cooler under there

Did you have you mandatory tune up?...always a good idea. Proper maintenance now ensures a long lasting 3800 8)

How much does a 180 thermostat run? Sounds like a worth while upgrade to the engine. I'm not sure what you mean a "mandatory tune up". It was a Certified GM Used Car. But, only a few weeks after getting the car, I noticed a few...problems, for lack of a better word. Which I am not too happy about, and the dealership knows my frustration
