Default New Guy from Pittsburgh

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 1997 SSEi. Though I haven't done anything yet, I'm hoping to do some small mods, mostly just to make the car my own. Though this is the first car I've had since graduating college, I've been working on cars since I was 17, and have spent a good amount of time with a friend of mine who owns a fleet of American Iron.

Hopefully I'll put some pics up a bit later.

No matter what mod you want to do, there is most likely some here that has done something similar and can help ya out!

I am pretty new here (less than a year) and it is the best forum I have even been a part of!

I do want to do some little performance things, mostly to keep KR low/off in case I go for a pulley later (I'm still in school so I doubt I'd have money for everything in order to boost up safely), like a cooler thermostat, maybe a downpipe and/or intake. I'm also considering (though farther down the road) a rear disc conversion, if I can do some junkyard adventuring and get a set off a DeVille. The big ones I'm interested in the immediate future are buying an aeroforce gauge and maybe an HID conversion.

cooler t-stat is $10 + $2-$3 for the gasket. downpipe depends on cat, no cat, material and brand usually somewhere around $200. keeping the kr down should be easy as long as you don't drop below a 3.5"pulley

Welcome to the site. You have come to the right place to mod that car. We have a few here that have done a thing or two to a 97.

The downpipe isn't really necessary until you start getting into the smaller pulleys, I'd say an intake, good copper plugs, a T-Stat, and making sure all of you maintenance is taken care of should be all ya need for the 3.5"

:Welcome Aaron!! there are a ton of members here that will assist you on deckin out your SSEi!

Aaron, please add your year and trim of your vehicle to your signature line. That way when you start asking questions in other areas of the forum, we all have a better idea on how to assist you. Click on "Quick Links" above, go down to "User Control Panel" and then click on "Edit your Signature" It'* pretty straight forward from there.
