New Guy From Arkansas
Hi everyone my name is Ken,i'm 49 and honored to join this forum. I hope i will be able to assist my fellow members in anyway i can. I currently own a 1994 GMC Sonoma 4.3, auto,2wd ,regular cab. I plan on doing some custom mods to it,i don't have any ideas as of yet. I welcome any suggestions as to where to start on it. I have a limited budget to work with at this time. Thanks for allowing me to join.

Welcome to the forum Ken. I'm sure we could help you out somewhere. What mods have you done so far?

Hi Mike and thanks i am glad to be here. I have not done any mods to it yet. It is as bone stock as it could be. It belonged to my dad and bought it new in 94 and his idea of a mod was flipping the floormats over so they didn't get scuffed up. It has been sittin in the garage since May of 04 after his passing a driven a dozen times until i convinced my mother to get rid a lot of my dad'* things. I have put about 700 miles on it since i got it. Right now it has a little over 140,000 on the it. The only mods i have planned for it is some airbrushed graphics on the hood and tailgate as a memorial to him and have with me at the barbecue contests,he was my partner in every contests with for forty years. I just want to make it mechanically fit as possible to tow my grill/trailer. I plan on upgrading with a larger trans cooler, replacing the stock fan with electric cooling fan, larger radiator, elec brake controller for trailer brakes, and rear sway bar,and heavy duty shocks front and rear. I have a limited budget to work with so it will take me six months to year to get all that done. I was hoping the trans from the 96 will work because i can get it for cooking up a mess of ribs at the owners next family reunion next June.

Welcome to the forum from Ohio! Sorry to learn of your dad'* passing. How about dropping a V-8 in there for some more power? Love the idea of an airbrush memory!

Thanks for the welcome Bill, and for the condolences for my dad. It will be nine years this coming May he passed away. I know you and just about every person, including myself,in the whole wide world has been told or heard that " It gets easier with time". I don't agree with that completely,as time passes the thoughts about the loved one none gone get overshadowed by the other obligations involved, job, children, spouse, and a million other things. More time passing by doesn't make it easier,it just gives less time to think about them. But far as a v8 drop in,if it was any other truck i would say load up ur tools and come on. I got the beer covered and the best whole hog barbecued ribs you ever had. It was the first and only new truck he ever bought,he bought mom a new car every three years, but till that truck he drove a 1968 International stepside truck. He ordered that special ordered that Sonoma the way he wanted it. I hope you understand what i mean.

I sure do....my wife lost her grandfather & both her parents the last few years, her grandfather (97) being the most recent. I also understand about keeping the Sonoma just like your dad had it, I'd do the same thing.
