Default Fairly New from Memphis - and a Question

First, the Question:
I notice a little "xx Member" under the posters' names. It usually is regarding a Bonneville model (LE, SLE, SSE, SSEi). How is that assigned? Time in grade? Number of posts?

Intro:
I'm a gearhead that works at a desk all day. I also head up a VW club (primarily the old air coolers) and do all my own work on them, except paint. I have 4 Beetles from 1962 to 1978.

We bought our red, 1993 SSE new, at its model year end in AUG 1993. Window sticker is just short of $30K. It was our primary car, but is now my wife'* pride and joy. She and everybody she knows, dearly love it. She works close to home, so it only racks up less than 3K miles per year and only has about 128K miles. I mainly cuss it since it keeps me from my other projects. Don't tell my wife, but I actually love it too, in a love/hate sort of way.

I stumbled across this club while looking for diagnostic info/help during a recent "Service Engine" problem which I am still working through.

Since we have no plans of sending our RedSled to a foster home, a few years ago I acquired a pair of "official" GM Service Manuals for the 93 Bonneville. I dug around on the GM site and finally found them on sale for just $30 for the pair! If you've never seen these, they are about 4" thick stacked one on the other. Volume 2 is nothing but Driveability and Emissions.... and this is just for the 93 Bonnie. Never seen anything like these. I receive regular emails from GM'* publishing company and will share the info when I receive another (brain cells are brittle and I didn't record the info).

Okay, no more bragging. Good to be here with fellow gearheads and Bonnie-lovers and know that I will enjoy the ride. (previously known as "Lytnbug") Bill

Welcome to the club

as far as the "xx member" goes, it is from post count.

As far as your question on your car goes, I am sure someone here can help out :P

Welcome to BC.

Very cool that you are the original owner.

Hopefully, we can help you do a little more lovin' and less hatin' in your Bonneville relationship. Lots of knowledgable members here that can help during the often frustrating diagnosis/repair.

Many here have the factory service manuals for their specific year and some have multiple years. Always good fun fumbling through them trying to locate specific information.

Welcome! I think you'll find the Boonie a little cushier than the Bugs, even if it doesn't have the vintage factor.
Got any pictures of your various and sundry?

Welcome aboard!
Sounds like from your experience you will have lots to offer for us!

Try giving the gas cap a good tighten. I know with mine, if I don't hear at least 3 clicks, I will get the Service Soon light.

Worth a try!

After spending an hour or so looking and searching for details on pictures in signatures ...
Only discussions I could find are size and text line limits ... but
Q: Once I have a picture ready to add to my signature, how to I upload it?

Maybe that comes w/membership class?
Thanks

Get a Photobucket account. You need a host to upload your photos.
