Hi All - Newbie From Pittsburgh
Hi All - We just took ownership from my mother-in-law (MIL) of a 1977 Bonneville coupe. It'* in pretty good shape and just needs a little TLC. It has always been heated garage kept and has only 48K on it. It has hardly been run in the last 25 years.
This is a base model with no options to speak of. Exterior is Roman Red and interior is RED (and I mean RED)!! Everything is red. Gotta love it. I am just starting to get into what all it will need to be show worthy. mechanically it is in great shape with a current inspection. It needs a few thing restored or fixed. There are a lot of nicks in the paint along the doors and it is missing the fender skirts. Engine needs a good cleaning and some paint. Chrome is in very good condition for it'* age. Photo is attached for your viewing pleasure!
My first question is about the engine. Based on the VIN, it is a code R engine. I have seen conflicting info but I believe it to be the 400 CID V8 2bbl Pontiac engine. For some reason, my MIL thinks it might be a Buick engine. I know they did that for a while but I am not sure if this is true or not. Any help apprreciated.
So hello to all and I look forward to spending some time on these boards.
