new in the STL
Just thought I would say Hi to everyone here. I just recently bought a 2005 gxp from a dealership. I noticed the car on autotrader for very cheap and called the dealership about it. They said over the phone that there was nothing wrong with it but carfax showed there was a front end collision. I thought I would go check it out. I arrived at the dealership and the salesman pulled it around for me. I immediately asked him how he was able to sleep at night knowing he was telling people there was nothing wrong with this car. Myself being a bodyman knew what to look for and he obviously wasnt expecting it. I showed him every little thing I could find and all He could respond with is "it is priced accordingly". The header panel was glued together, the air box was busted, the fenders had about 3/4 inch of filler in them. the right fender was touching the front door. the upper rails still had kinks in them. There was overspay all over the engine and surrounding parts and the whole car had been obviously painted and didnt match from panel to panel. These were just a few of the problems I found. I talked it over with the wife and we went up the next night and told them what we thought of them and how they flat out lied to us about the condition of the car, but I guess they won because we went home with it. I feel we came out in good shape also because we were able to talk them down to a great price. I currently have it in my garage fixing it. I have the new header panel in and I have the fenders straightened back out and the tears welded up that they had filler over. The hood is stipped to the fibergalss and a coat of filler took care of that. The drivers door had been broken into and I re-fixed that. I need to prime and paint it still. I am going to do a complete paint job on it to make everything match. So that is my story of my bonneville up to this point. If any suggestions, I will gladly consider them.
