Hi-ya!! My name is Andrew, and I drive a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. I would like to just say Hi because I am new to this forum!! Well thanks for reading. Oh yes I was recently rear ended, and I need to get a whole new exhaust, does anyone have any aftermarket suggestions, I would like something quiet but gives more power. Thanks again!

For performance, some swear by Flowmaster, others DynoMax and well I swear by MagnaFlow....if you keep your stock tips, cat and resonator, you may find a bit of a performance boost, and it wil still be kinda quiet....but, consider this, if you are going to redo the exhaust...why not go all the way, high flow cat, new muffler, tip options, you'll love the sound, and it won't be tinny or rattly like ricer garbage...

Oh and while you are at it...read about at some of the other "insurance' mods for your NA engine....like 180T stat and tranny cooler....

Do some snooping around and you will find TONS of great information...oh and welcome!!

Forgive me, but what are 'Insurance mods' ?

Need a new bumper cover the steel bumper underneith cracked too so I got to be getting a new one of those, trunk lid needs to be re-aligned... its looking to be about 4grand+ for non-reconditioned parts and a tranny if needed....

Mods that will help keep things running the way the should. I believe the 180 t-stat is to keep the engine from getting hot enough to crack the intake manifold and the tranny cooler well is to keep the tranny cooler I don't remember the issue with that sorry.

Andy, Welcome to the club. Sorry about the accident. Like the color of your SSE. Had my car up on the rack last week for an oil change and noticed that the exhaust tip was starting to rust. Muffler is in good shape. I just need the exhaust tip part. Maybe 89BonnieSE89 knows if I can just get the exhaust tip part without having to pay for a whole muffler assembly. The part I need goes from the muffler to the rear bumper as shown in your pic.

If you're not in a location that'* severely picky about these things, I'd suggest the Clear Corners, especially with the color of your car. Here how mine look:

it is possible to add aftermarket tips to a stock muffler...however that muffler Andrew looks like its seen better days :?

Some of my fave exhaust tips belong to 96AZSSEi, hopefully he will read this post and show us those beauty dual silencer style tips. Also Andrew if there are budget constraints, do one thing at a time....

You'll be pleased with what even an normal aspirated 3800 can do, and yet...get a 180t stat....keep your engine running cooler to protect that plastic manifold

I KNOW I KNOW!!! You cannot just get the tip, you have to buy the whole muffler assembly, trust me I have checked with almost every local body shop... its too bad you cannot buy them.
