New from AL

Hey, new guy here from Alabama. I've got an '04, trying to figure out what kind of exhaust to put on it. Glad to finally find some people that like these cars as much as I do.

Welcome to BC. For exhaust, there are quite a few topics (some with audio) to help guide you.

Welcome to BC! :D

Glad you found us. Spend a bit of time searching and reading and you should find all kinds of great info already here.

Some places to look are in TECHINFO above and in many of the great forums here.

As far as your exhaust question goes, you can always ask your question in "General Chat", but a brief summary of what you will hear goes something like this:

Your exhaust pipes themselves are plenty adequate for any power adders your likely to put on, unless you add major HP. Plus they are Stainless already, so there's no real need to make changes there.

A high-flow cat can be added for under $100 plus labor for welding. Most popular brand here is Magnaflow.

As far as sound enhancment goes (I.E. muffler), that is the big controversial subject. Sound preference varies by person, so you will never get much agreement from everybody, but in general, the three most popular brands I've seen used here are:

- Flowmaster 80 - May be the most used one here. Use the one designed for the F-Bodies and you should be fine. Some feel this is too loud and/or raspy, while others can't get enough.

- Magnaflow - Quite popular. Slightly outflows the Flowmaster 80, but you would have to be pushing a bunch of power before this made any difference at all, IMO. Some say this has a somewhat mellower tone at highway speeds and favor this over others.

- Hooker Aero Chamber - Newer and getting some attention. This may be the one with the mellowest tone according to a few who have used it. Some prefer a louder muffler from what I can gather. Since I'm an older fart, I will likely lean toward this when I get one.

Well, that's not all of it, by any means, but you get the general idea, right? ;)
