New '94 SSEI owner

After owning 3 caddy's (last (which is currently for sale :) is a '89 fleetwood) I went to a carlot looking at a '93 Cadillac STS, but it had too many small problems so decided too leave it be, as I was leaving this car caught my eye, I loved the look, was hooked, bought it and am loving it!! Only been 4 days but am loving it, the factory stereo was defective so am in middle of adding amp and subs

Sweet! The STS was one of the cars I was looking for, but I always had my heart set on an SSEi. I couldn't find an STS in decent shape, anyway, and I'm glad now.

Welcome to the club!

Nice 8) Welcome aboard.. hee hee.. you think much like most of us.. oh look at that.. it's broken.. time to hop it up with performance oriented stuff.. hee hee  .

Funny how I too was lookin at a STS before I chose the Bonnie.. it seems a lot of ppl lookin at the STS somehow looks into the Bonnie too..

94 SSEI

Well still loving it, but am now finding myself looking for things too mod. & fix (e.g. am working on stereo (weird speaker wiring , 4 wires per rear???) and noticed that the tire inflator doesn't function either, I also find the engine guttsy only when it wants too be, but this is probably tuning/cleaning required). Still haven't seen any others in the same colour (gold), the majority seem too be either green or white.

Overall very happy.

If you have the subwoofer control, your rear speakers have dual coils, one for the bass and one for the rest.

rear speakers

Yes, I have the gain control, but aftermarket cdplayer (factory cdplayer was jammed on scan). Can I still use this gain control with the amp/subs & 6x9's I'm going too put in???

That lever is hooked to a subwoofer amplifier. If you are adding new subs with their own amplifier it will probably render the control useless, unless you want to rig something up.

The original stereo system with the subwoofer is decent, I am happy with mine. When I got the car it had the cassette player, I did some research and found a refurb CD player that is the same as the original, so it all was plug and play.

Don't throw away the factory CD player, they are hard to get. You should get it repaired.

If you are doing new audio and not using old stuff you will need to run new wires, and bypass or remove the old amps. It's good for stock but not as good as aftermarket. If you like the slider, you can prob do some custom wiring, or replace it with a remote knob from an amp. Those CD players are worth a lot to people!

Yup, I think thats pretty common, because it is the same basic car. My mom was looking at the STS before getting her SSEi, she decided it made more sense to get the SSEi because it was basically the same car as the STS, and $20,000 cheaper.

Well, if you could've convinced the dealer to sell it to you for cheap it wouldn't be a problem to have a bunch of small problems. My grandfather bought his '92 STS for $1000, with 160,000 miles on it about 2 years ago. It is loaded, with perfect paint, no dents or anything, and didn't need anything, it has 160k so it needs the regular occasional repairs, but it is in great shape, maybe I will post a pic of it soon. It has the cloth top too. He has a friend that owns a dealer and bought it at an auction for $1000. Well, he got his friend drunk and convinced his friend to sell it for what he had in it. It is definately one heck of a car for $1000.

Anyways, WELCOME, and enjoy your Bonneville!!!

Wow, I'll give him $1200 & a case of whiskey, so he's drunk and ahead :)

I'm not giving up on a STS, just cost wise in my present status the bonnie is a better choice, one day I'll come across an amazing deal (like your grandfather did), till then, I'm just enjoying cruisin in the bonnie.

thanks for the welcome
