whats the big deal
I'm new - 93 SE everything is stock 105k mi. Jeez, I changed the wires, and I think they were original.
What is this (what seems to be) huge following of the P.B.? I mean, it seems to drive nicely, but what'* the big deal? Would I have to drive a better model to know? I'm just curious if there is more to my car than I realize.
BTW, I paid $1k for it! haha.

This is hardly a huge following. Try looking at the ls1 or mustange or civic forums, those are huge followings. Also, try driving a newer SSEi and tell us what you think.

Welcome to the club!
The Bonneville thing is all about taste. The 3800 (available in other cars as well) is a strong runner and last a very long time. It was voted #1 engine for longevity (or something) in the mid 1990'* for several years....starting with 1993. Most people don't expect much from a greocery getter...but once they ride in them they have a new found respect. It is more comfortable than an econobox and more efficient than many full size sedans. But mostly it is just taste....please pass the salt.

Why I Love My Bonneville
My Bonnie isn't new,
Lord knows she isn't fast.
But one thing that i DO know,
My car was built to LAST.
She'* taken crap from me
With nary a complaint.
Not to mention all the times
She has kept me from being late!
I always ride in comfort
Thanks to my velvet seats.
And everything works perfectly,
Down to A/C and heat!
The 305 is common and
Though maybe not the best,
You have to give props to
Parts cheaper than the rest
My car is nothing special,
This I surely know,
But when I really need her to,
Bonnie will get up and GO!

That girl will really fly!!!

What'* the big deal? For starters, it'* mine. Plus, I prefer big cars. I hate drivng them little things, even the 2000+ Bonnes feel just a tough cramped to me. And it'* hard to find the same agressive styling in a full sized car as the Bonne has without paying big bucks for it, even used.
I love how the 92-99'* look pretty sporty, without being overly race car looking. Kinda remind of the the 70-80'* Nascar cars.
And the ride. Again, it'* hard to match what we got for the price most of us paid.
So, other than the fact that it'* my car, you just can't beat the balance of budget, ride, and style....

Well, I had an 89 Park ave with a similar engine. I wish i took better care of it, but it served me well and I liked how it drove. The more I drive it, the more I really like PB, and I think i'll try to take care of this one. I drove an '04 Grand Prix. That was fun.
