Howdy... new around these parts, tho I've read various posts over the years I figured it was time I signed up
I have a 2000 Cavalier Z24 convertible which I'm currently swapping the L67 motor from a 2000 Buick Park Avenue Ultra into... it'* mounted from below, like the Bonneville engines... unlike the Grand Prix GTP engine which has the dogbones on top...
(which suits me just fine... since the rad support on the Cavalier is practically tin foil.... very weak...)
I'll have pics and slips soon... but I need to mount the dang motor in the bay still

I'm definetly interested in this, as my ex has one of those cars, and I've always wanted to swap something more powerful in it; a four banger just doesn't do it for me

Well... let'* see...
Here'* the car before I blew up the motor:
It'* a 2000 Cavalier Z24 convertible... started off stock a year and a half ago, then I put a GM supercharger on the 2.4L engine... did a bunch of head work... swapped the auto for a Getrag 5 speed.. Alero IRS swap w/ rear discs... lowered on Koni'* and Eibach Pro-Kit.. black leather interior... bunch of other stuff...
Then one day at the end of July... I redlined in first gear at a whopping 30 km/hr.. turning a corner... detonated and blew the ring land on piston #4:
So.. I figured I could rebuild it stronger... or start over. I sold the GM */C for $2200 and used that to buy this:
A 2000 Buick Park Avenue Ultra.. hit in the rear. Everything I needed for the swap... engine, transmission, PCM, wiring, BCM, cluster, fuel pump... everything. I grabbed a set of aluminum control arms from a 99 Grand Am (specific to that year), over the stock Cavalier folded metal garbage... plus the aluminum knuckles. I used the Park Ave hubs (bolt right on!) and the 12" brakes... I'm going to grab a set of dual piston Corvette calipers... see if that makes it stop nice and quick
Anyway... here'* the test fit:
So far, it'* ok... I need to fab up some extensions to the stock subframe, in order to box in the lower part of the drivetrain to support the weight. I'm trying to use the stock engine and trans mounts, but i don't know (yet) how well that will work... The J-body is about an inch narrower than the BPA... we'll see. If I have to fab stuff to make it work, that'* what I'll do.
And yes, I do it all myself in the carport...
Should be another couple of months before it'* running... lots of work to be done yet... :(

OMG.... Bone Stock the L67 is known to put down a good 240-260 HP and 320-330 Ft Lbs at the crank..... Thats going to be one hell of a rocket..... Nice
