sorry folks, i put my first post in the lounge and not here.
i currently drive a 96 chrysler sebring, but that'* my parents car. im 16 and get my license in 2 months (time delay on getting my license was due to last year and grades werent the hottest, i was at a D+ average ) but now im a B+ average student and looking to get a car within the nest year or so. i live in a growing city called savage and the city is right next to burnsville which recently got a bunch of somolian immigrants which are taking all the low income jobs so finding a job is pretty hard right now. i have a few places in mind but can never get ahold of anyone when i call.
anywho the sebring has the 2.5 MPI V6 and has a slight knock issue and around 102K and just got new tires, water pump, timing belt, brakes and tie-rods. the inner tie-rod ends are going along with the stabilizer links so those'll need to be changed soon. other than that its a great car..not that powerful but fun non the less. but my parents want to get a new car and want to get a good deal on the sebring and my price range is around $2500 and they said i need to get a job before they'll give me a price quote on the bring.
which is why im here..ive found a few bonnies in my price range and i love the looks of the car and it'* more powerful than the bring.
so im seeing what comes of this and whether i get a bonnie or the bring or something else......
so thats about it
thanks for having me

Maybe consider the 96-99 or even an 00 with low mileage. the reason behind that is the cars in that yer range are about 10 years old. Although,My 1992 has held together great for being 15 years old, but its in need of an engine. but with 175000 miles, id need a few new things too. so really anything in youre price range that says Bonneville on it will be a good buy.
If you have the luck to find a 00+ model (my other car), theyre great.
Bonnevilles hold together like glue, ask some of the members here who beat the daylights out of their 3800'*. im a canidate.

Welcome aboard!!
I am a previous 1997 Sebring Owner!! Looooooved that car but the engine was going and it wasn't worth dumping the money into it after everything else I had into it.
The choice on buying a Bonneville was the best decision I ever made

Welcome to the Club...
The 2.7 in my eyes is one of the worst hunks of junk Dodge ever used.. I can't begin to tell you how many I have seen Fail before 100K and all of them ended up with a Rod knock... I have seen the motors go as early as 50k...I have seen 1 make it to 150k( All highway miles )..
Some Dodge dealerships won't even touch the engine if it goes south.... They will simply make you buy a new one...lol..
The Bonneville have their own share of issues... But can be a goos all around driver, and in some cases a Big car that will surprise you and some of your friends...
Some have the 3.06 Gear ratio attached to the 3800 Series II NA motor, Makes for a car with some good get up and go... Then you have the SC'* 3800 II engine.... Lots of power there and more to be had with simple mods...
Some of the older Bonnevilles could be had with the F41 Firm ride and handling( 92-93 ) and other had the FE2 Ride and handling.... F41 and FE2 actually fall into the same group..
The Standard suspension is FE1 Soft Ride... In some cases the soft ride is not as soft as you would think... lol
Anyhow... welcome to the Bonnevilleclub

thanks for the welcome!
i am over on sebringclub as well and it sounds like at around 100K they start to have problems. as for the 2.7, the seeb has the 2.5 but i was looking at intrepids once and even dodge people said they have problems to much. sounds like head gasket issues and tranny issues are the main downfall. my mom got a rental car while her'* was in the shop and i got to drive it and that thing had a few knocks and i revved it and blue smoke just came pouring out. that thing burned so much oil it was nuts.
well, hopefully i can find a bonnie soon!
and what about magnaflows? or flowmasters? anyone tried those on their bonnevilles?
we had a magnaflow on the durango we sold and have one on our 03 ram and they are pretty quite at first but once you get up into the higher RPMs they really come alive

Magnaflows and Flowmasters are about the only things we use over here as far as mufflers go, although a few people have gone the Hooker Aerochamber route.
Welcome to the Club, and if you're really going into that bottom tax bracket, the L36 is the motor for you. Plenty of umph, but without the guzzling tendencies that a lead foot can coax the L67 into...
The L67 doesn't hurt you too much on fuel, really, maybe 3-4MPG, but premium can put a pinch on ya, as can insurance rates... :(
