After weeks of lurking around (and exceeding my number of guest views lol) I have finally signed up here on gmforum.com. Alot of great info here. I love Pontiac and I have been driving a 95 bonneville se around for about two years. ~158,000 miles and it still runs like a top. My father bought the car in 95 after a felon fleeing from police T-boned his 85 bonne. He actually got out and pinned down the felon while police rushed in to arrest the him lol. I have to admit I laughed seeing my dad with his knee pushed on the back of some dudes neck on the evening news.

Anyway im currently dealing with a guy to buy a 95 ssei with ~180,000 miles for 800 dollars. Too my knowledge this car has a series I L67 in it, which has no aftermarket. I would like to know if it'* possible (and practical) to put a series II L67 in it and really get this car rolling!!

yes that is probable but i have the same year and model and I can tell you it will be a pain due to the computer being obd 1.5 which means finding someone who can flash it for the correct tune. As far as i can tell no one here is able to, at least I think people kept telling me they didn't have the software for it. I really want to supercharge mine because i love it but i don't know how likely it will happen unless ive overlooked someone who does have proper software... plus premium is expensive with gas prices now....

From what I've heard, there are a few mods for S1 engines, but most are for the S2. With premium gas prices topping $4 a gallon now (at least at the expensive stations near me), some people are going to start unloading '96+ SSEi'*, so keep your eyes on craigslist.

The easiest thing to do would be to get a wrecked 96 SSEi and transfer over the engine and wiring harness. Then you'd be pretty much all set. Sounds easy...

I don't mind the extra .20 -.30 cents per gallon it costs to drive my SSEi compared to my SLE. The mileage really doesn't change much either. Even with 100+ hp more on the SSEi, they both pull about 24 MPG highway with my driving.

Thanks Everybody. So it seems if I can get a series II L67 with the wiring harness later on down the road, that it should be a fairly easy swap.

And I won't mind paying extra for premium because my dream driver lol.
