Default Nu B

Hi everybody!

I’ve lurked in and out of BonnevilleClub.com for quite a while, but got addicted just recently and decided to sign up. Lots of good information on the site, and I’m enjoying what others have to say about their cars.

My (wife’*) car is a ’93 SSE, white, white wheels, gray leather, and bone-stock. Yeah, I wish it was an SSEi, but I still like it anyway. We bought it in 95 and the O.D. Meter is pushing 180,000 clicks. It’* been an amazingly reliable car, other than a cam bearing that fell out around 73k (no kidding, it FELL out of the block, somehow stretched around the cam and dropped through the crank into the oil pan. It was a bit mashed up but it was in one complete piece!), and a spun #3 rod bearing at 120k. Granted, those aren’t trivial problems, but if this engine was a typical reliable GM 3.8, this car would be remarkably trouble-free. If the leather on the seats wasn’t so worn and there weren’t so many rock chips on the front, this car would look new. I’ve had many people get a case of the big-eye when I tell ‘em she’* a ’93. The paint has more gloss than many cars on the showroom today. I’ve never had to change a CV joint, never even put a wheel bearing in the thing. Crap, I’m embarrassed to say this, but it still has the original struts on it. The ride has degraded a lot, but it’* not bad. Besides the bearing problems, here’* a brief rundown of problems I’ve had:

The small auxiliary sun visors have broken off. Both of them.
Latch on the console lid broke. Retrofitted with improved GM latch/lid.
Wife keeps ripping off the air dam below the fog lights. I quit replacing it.
Clogged evaporator core. And it’* due to be cleaned again.
Trunk leaked. Fixed it by sealing a body joint behind the rear strut.
Volume control on radio quit functioning after daughter borrowed car. Still broke.
Decrease Volume control on steering wheel quit functioning. Fixed with toothpicks (of all things) thanks to this site.
Clogged fuel pump pickup screen. Caused the car to stall when reading ¼ tank or less.

Sounds like a lot of stuff, but this IS an 11 year old car that is driven every day! If it weren’t for the engine problems I’ve had (easiest engine pull I’ve ever done, BTW), the track record for this car would rival any Camry or other traditionally dependable car. And the HUD is just waaay too cool. It still brings a smile to my face when I fire the ol’ girl up.

My Bonneville rocks.
The Simpsons rock.
My trials bike loves rocks.

Sorry for being a complete dolt, but can you be a little more specific? How do I get the photo from my hard drive to here? I mean, the pic has to be uploaded to the web somehow, doesn't it? :? To me this is like trying to explain gyroscopic precession to a 5th grader - can you give me an example of how to do this (uh...upload the picture, not explain precession) ? I'm not quite grasping the "URL" stuff - I know what a url is, I just don't understand what url I'm 'posed put in there.

Let'* say my picture is located on c:/mydocs/car.jpg. How do I get the elusive picture from there to here?

I know. Idiots should not be allowed on a computer but, alas, here I am.

lol
There are people better qualified to do this than me on this site, but since I found the post first: go to www. photobucket.com. The site sort of walks you through uploading pics from your computer to your own "photo album." It'* very easy. Then cut and paste the path to photobucket, your album, and the specific photo you want to use (the path appears in the search bar when you click on the photo), surrounded by the image brackets mos showed a few posts back, right into the text of your post, wherever you want the photo to appear. Anyone else who can describe the process more concisely, feel free to do so.

Thanks Miami!

Let'* see if this works...

If, in fact, I've achieved success, you will see my plain 'ol white '93 SSE next to our old '63 Star Chief. Nothing too special about the SSE, other than it IS a Bonneville, but I thought the 30 years of evolution made an interesting photo.

Success! I am now armed and dangerous.

Star Chief? Nothing special?

That'* the predecessor to the Bonneville. They simply renamed it, not much more than that!

Anyone that calls himself a motorhead is MORE than welcome here
(and forget the curse......it'* been dormant for awhile)
