Hey guys, just thought i would introduce myself, names Jay. Im 19 years old, currently working for TiVo, and going to college in New Mexico. I had a 2005 Bonneville GXP that me and my dad were sharing. He had one in 1990, 1993, 1997, and 2005. Loved the GXP but decided to get one for myself in my name. Its a 2001 SSEi, V6 supercharged, beige. Love these cars and want to know how i can go about making it better and just some basic things that you guys think i should know about it. So far it has 42,000 miles on it and the only thing i see that is not working correctly is the fuel gauge, other than that, its great. I'll have pics up in a while of it, but until then, thanks for including me here.

Jeez, 19 and he'* got an SSEi. Lucky bastid...
Welcome to the Club man!
You kind of got the backwards intro. Most of us started with an SE or an early nineties Bonnie, then moved up to SSEi'* and GXPs. Don't worry though, if you decide to mod, you'll quickly be leaving your old man in the dust...
Check Techinfo for common problems, and fish around in Performance and Brainstorming, and in 2000-2005 for performance ideas.

Basic first mods are usually a Cold Air Intake(CAI) or FenderWell Intake(FWI), 180* thermostat, smaller */C pulley, and a reprogrammed PCM. These will net you a noticeable increase in power, even if it'* not a hellacious jump. After that, your options expand alot, but these mods are the best foundation for later big-power mods.

BTW, if you drop your year and trim level in your signature, it'll save you some time when you're asking questions.

Finally,

Nice thanks for the info on that. Looking more for a subtle look with it, i think thats why Bonnevilles are such nice cars in the first place. My first mod i think will be a better sound system, starting with some decent subs, than i'll go on to engine mods. I'll be taking my car to the dealer first to get the fuel gauge corrected though.

That'* as close to local as you're going to get.

Our population is pretty sparse out your way.
