Default Howdy from WV!

Hi Guys, My name is Tim. I've got my first GM (1988 Buick Regal Custom 2.8l).
That was the first type of car my dad let me drive - an Electra. I've had this Regal for maybe 10 years or more. You guessed it, I don't throw ANYTHING away. I started out as a Cummins Mechanic - ran the dyno at the end of that gig. Now, apparently I'm in training as a '88 Regal Mech. At the end of life for this car will maybe mean a conversion into a three wheeler. I've debated doing that prematurely lately, but successfully held off for now.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi to everybody!

welcome to the site. why would you want to take away one of its wheels? the only thing i would do three wheel wise is take one of those three wheel goldwing conversions and put the 2.8 on it, maybe a turbo too, that would be cool

hehe. That'* an interesting thought. Please post the pics! I figured I could still tow a half ton with the heavy duty framing, ala 3 wheels and bug riddled teeth.

fortunately i have a truck to tow things and the 2.8'* i did have are gone a couple decades ago. i had a half dozen over the years, not anything i would be excited about messing with. the 88 cutlass i had though the P.O., my uncle, towed a 19.5 bowrider bayliner with. i was always impressed with that

That is pretty impressive. That would be a nice pic for the family album.

The reason my truck is still stripped down to a short block is because the Regal
hauls everything I need. I recently hauled a load of treated 2" x 10" x 18'*.
Plus, the truck drinks 20 bucks in gas real fast and the Regal will go a while
on $20. BUT, I'm going to make a 24' car hauler from an old camper frame. I
think that will require the truck. I wish it wasn't so.

Unfortunately know what u are talking about. Has to be something I really cant haul with my car before I drive my yukon. Iprobably going to be a more common thing to see now that I think of it. The guy across the street sold the old pickup he had and got a trailer for his impala

Yeah. I've been seeing a lot of newer mid sized cars pulling all sorts of trailers in the past year. I suppose if I would have to resort to the car hauler method, it
would be $50 in gas for the truck (locally) as opposed to $100. for a wrecker,
plus I wouldn't have to argue with the wrecker driver over trying to get his
truck where I need it to go . But, if I could have a properly balanced trailer
with 50 lbs tongue weight, I could haul the F-250 around with the Regal...
Time to start werking on Plans.

dont think i would try that, fords are heavy probably weighs twice as much as the car by itself

Shucks, I think you're right. I could've hauled the truck out to the camp and back again and saved $$$!!!
