Default FNG here.

New to the forum, but not new to cars. I've been a mechanic for about 5 years, went to tech school, all that fun stuff. Currently working in a Mitsubishi dealership, but I cut my teeth in the independent sector, and most of the work I do is on used cars, because our dealership also does used cars for the Hall Auto Group here in VA.

I am not far from the Roanoke area of VA myself. More so in the country a bit away from it, but I grew up in Roanoke.

I live in Virginia Beach. Stone'* throw from Norfolk Naval base, NAS Oceana, Langley AFB etc. Military lingo has a funny way of working itself into the local dialect.

GM-Ryder: I'm not the best gearhead around, but if I can't steer ya right, I'll do my best not to steer ya wrong. You shouldn't have much trouble getting an honest answer here. After all, there'* no benefit to pointing anyone in the wrong direction on a forum. Then again, I don't see much benefit to the shady practices I've seen in some of the places I no longer work. Sure you make a fast nickel. But as soon as that customer realizes what you did, and eventually they will, you've lost what could've been a lifelong customer and thousands of dollars in work.

Maybe my lack of understanding is why I turn the wrenches instead of running a shop.
