Smile 07 envoy 4.2l no start..help

hi guys . i am new to this sight, been a gm owner all my life...so far,,
need a little help with my 2007 envoy i just bought for my wife, when you turn the key to the start postion all lights ,radio gages ect all work as they should but it wont start, no clicking of the starter/selenoid nothing, but if you turn the key off and on again a few time it will fire right up, sometime you only have to turn the key twice, sometimes 20 times, i have 4 different keys and they all work the same, not sure where to go... battery and connections are good, start seems fine.. any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a possible ignition switch failure. Check for battery voltage with a test light at your starter then work your way to the switch. I don't have a diagram in front of me right now I'll try to post one unless someone else does first.

I am also tending to believe it may be an ignition switch problem.
Will it start, if have your foot on the brake, and shift transmission into neutral?

i was leaning towards the ignition switch but have my doubts...it will start after 5 to 20 turns of the key sometimes fires up on the first try and runs great,no issues when running.
when the key is on and turned to the start position all gauges and lights work as they should (no dimming of lights when turned to start position), it does not click or turn over slow when key is turned to the start position just dead. it makes no difference with the trans being in neutral or foot on the brake i have tried everything short of standing on my head lol. i just dont want to start replacing a bunch of stuff and thats not the problem ,there is a small read light on the steering column on top to the left that blinks constantly..not sure what it is it is like a security thing? it has the small red light blinking on the dash board by the radio also i always assumed that one is the antitheft?
not sure what to think of the one on the steering column or if it may have anything to do with it

Ya I understand u dont want to try a new starter motor when it may be something else..
Talking about something else, re the lights blinking, if u have the owners manual and these are factory lights that are blinking, there should be a description of them to confirm in fact exactly what they are, and could very well be security related.
Take a photo if u cant identify them so we can see the locations of them.
If u are not sure how to upload to photo bucket etc & post a photo let me know I can help with that.
I am going to PM another senior member to see if I can get him involved in this thread, because I m not overly familiar with the Envoy...stand by..

it would be a guess but on a 07 i think the security message would be yellow on the 2inch square display that displays your other messages. but like art said look in your manual all the expinations are listed in there, because i havent had a blazer specifically,. post your results if you could

The security light is on the left side of the cluster, between the tach and the speedometer, right above the light that comes on when your high beams are on. I believe if the issue is a Passlock theft deterrent issue the engine will turn over but the fuel system will be deactivated. That does not sound like the symptoms you are describing.

The ignition switch is most likely the culprit.

ok here is what i found so far,i never new this but it has an after market immobilizer on it by Autowatch, thats what the little blinking light is on the steering column i think, there is a small little black stubby thing about an inch long on the keychain that says autowatch. i talked with the dealer today he said it is an after market system and most likely causing the problem, i am not sure how to remove it but i am going to try this weekend and hope i get it out, they told me they run into that quite a bit, the little block on the keychain is the immobilizer and it has dificulty comunicating with the system after time, best to remove it they say, so i will give it a whirl - any help on getting it out would be appreciated to lol,, will keep you posted,
also the envoy'* security light in the ins.cluster is not on so i dont think it is the issue

Is this them? Autowatch Canada - Immobilizers, Alarm Systems, Anti-Hijack, Idle Protection, GPS Tracking, Remote Starters, Ignition Interlocks

I'd contact them before doing anything to the system itself.

I wondered what you meant when you mentioned a blinking light on the steering column.
