Replacing tie rods- length, spacing concern
 

Replacing the tie rods, both inner, outer and sleeve on a 98 S10 ZR 2. All was going well except when I place the replacement assembly next to the original assembly, one the replacement assembly the spacing inside the sleeves seems to wide and I am thinking should be somewhat centered. A picture describing the condition is attached.

Hoping forum members can take a look and share what right should look like.

Think I am starting to figure this out. It is likely the amount of rotations the tie rod takes inside the sleeve, not the amount of threads outside the sleeve the should be three or less. Looking at the picture, the replacement outer tie rod has 30 more threads than the oem. No way to match that up in thread count. I did a one for one turn on in the inner and outer tie rod into the sleeve and it looks better.

Easy way to get your alignment close with a setup like this is to measure the distance from the forward inner rim to the frame on both wheels and the inner rear part of the rim to the frame. Basically, your using the frame to ZERO out the distance of the rims in relation to the frame.
