GMC Yukon XL 2500 help

I have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL 2500 SLT that is making a grinding noise from the front at takeoff. At first, the noise seemed to only be when turning left at takeoff, but, now it makes the noise when turning left or right from takeoff. A mechanic friend checked the front wheel hub assembly and said he thought the wheel bearing was good, but, I've been told that sometimes the wheel bearing won't make a noise until it's loaded or turned a certain way. It makes the grinding noise at takeoff, but the noise goes away once the wheels are straightened. Never notice the grinding noise when driving and making turns or around curves at higher speeds (15 mph or greater), Could it be the encoder motor (transfer case motor) trying to engage the 4 WD? I replaced the TCCM several months ago and the noise seemed to go away for a short time, but now it's back. Thanks for any and all help in advance.

Wheel bearing is a good guess.

Carfixer007, thanks for your reply. I think I'm going to try that first. I appreciate your input
