It's possible.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it . . . although I haven't run across anyone with the financial resources available to gut a perfectly-good probably-still-under-warranty two year old truck and make a science project out of it. Maybe you can. I shouldn't have pre-judged.

This is a difficult question to answer.

Are you doing the work yourself?

What is the source of the donor engine?

How experience do you have with such things?

How much time, money, and energy do you have for this?

Are there any applicable laws/ordinances/etc. that restrict this for you?

How well do you want it to work when completed?

Do you think it will work well when completed? <<<<<that last one is a test. If you answer "yes" too quickly, you fail the test.

I suppose I was a bit cryptic in my initial question, haha. I wouldn’t do this to the truck anytime soon, just thinking about the future, 6-8 years when the trans and engine start giving out, and they will since I put about 25k-30 a year on it. Spending 15k-20k on a dmax swap (if the frame and body is still good then) makes more sense than dropping what will probably by then be $110k on a new dmax chev.

That said and to answer your final question; we’re talking chevy here, it will probably work like shit when completed 😂

LOL by then the fashionable thing to do will be to swap to a fusion-electric-unobtanium setup and get away from petroleum power anyways.
