I pulled the rubber floor cover and padding out of my standard 2door 2wd Scottsdale C-10 truck. I found much rust on both sides of the (rocker panels?). Neither side has the fin left that holds the rubber door weather stripping at floor level. Both sides have bad rust causing the fin for weather stripping to be missing. Is there any type of replacement piece that will cover both sides of the fins mostly on inner floor side and have the weather strip fin included? Is this a piece that will have to be made or can I buy it. I ordered two panels from LMC Truck co. part#* 38-7840 & 38-7856. Neither fit my truck. Can you help me with a company or tell me where to get what I need.

It wont do any good to replace the rusted places unless I can get the leaks stopped. I pulled the wiper arms off and the cowl vent grill panel along with the black plastic screen looking piece. There was so much leaf and pine needle materials and it was hard to get all that mess out. I used a hose to flush that stuff out. The leaks did not come from windshield gasket. The water seemed to come in somewhere under the cowl vent area. Does anyone out there have any suggestions about what I should try to do to get the leaks stopped. I cant tell for sure if all the pine needles and leaf material was stopping the rain water from running out at the right area instead of in my floors. Both sides leak if I spray a hard stream from the hose. I dont know what is going to happen with just rain water. Has anyone had this problem before or do you have suggestions for me to try. if you spray the hose in the cowl outside it comes in the floor? i would have some body do that while i watch under the dash for drips, and seal up whatever is leaking

Thanks, I will try that this weekend. I took it by a body shop today and they said its common for my model truck 1986 to leak there when the vent area is stopped up as bad as mine was. It seems that all the leaves and trash had the area that is suppose to drain water stopped up and water had no where to go but inside cab. I sure hope that is all that is wrong. Two diffrent body shops are wanting $700 to patch up the outer rocker panels and a little fo the floor board. Everything is expensive nowadays. BIGNICK

i had a 89 that had the same issues as most old chevies do there and was getting prices from shops to get it fixed and it was more than i bought the truck for for most of them. thats why i learned to do it myself, it didnt turn out as nice as they would have done it but if you cut out the old metal replace it with new and paint it, its going to last alot longer than leaving it regardless what it looks like

86 Scottsdale c10 I have tried cleaning out all the cowl vent area. I got it all cleaned out of dirt and leaves. I thought my leak was stopped but it hasn't. I found a rust patch in the firewall floorboard seam a little right past the heater box from standing in front of the truck. I cut the firewall insulation out from the inside about 1 inch up so I could see where that rust patch started and finished also when I flood the windshield area with the hose I can hear a drip drip drip and when I look up into the kick board vent area I can see water dripping off of the blower blade. A body shop told me that sometimes you have to take the heater assembly off to find all the rust. Is there any easy way of removing the heater box. I have AC also. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated
