Default PLEASE HELP ,TEMP GAUGE STUCK ?

I had a code for bad temp sensor,I ignored it for about 1 yr :O , a week or two back my rad tank sprung a leak,a few drops on ground per day until last night, got a sizable puddle and temp gauge went pretty high ( 220 or so ).
So this a.m. I went to auto parts store, bought a new temp sensor, radiator, cap and thermostat.Installed all ,now notice temp gauge still where it was last night,up around 220 or so,any ideas? I am LOST.

When you say rad tank are you talking about the overflow reservoir or rad itself?
As long as all the leaks are solved, you could have some trapped air in the system.
Did you initially run it with the rad cap off, to burp the system?
If you have an air bleed screw, you can try to bleed air off, by slightly unscrewing it when hot, until coolant dribbles out, to remove air.
Is the top rad hose hard or spongy when hot? When you squeeze upper hose& give it a rev, do you feel circulation through it?
What thermostat brand did you use, did it have a bleed hole?
Drilling a small hole in the outer edge of the thermostat helps to relieve trapped air.

Thank you for your reply and great info. Soft Ride, I took the 'radio' fuse out to put it in the cig lighter spot to use code scanner and forgot to replace it,didn't think it effected the gauges anyway :O ,I put radio fuse back in it'* spot on fuse block and problem went away :O , oh it gets a little worse though as before i replace fuse i heated a sewing needle and poked it through the clear plastic ' lens' on the gauge cluster to try to 'unstick' the needle :O
Again thank you much for your time and knowledge.
