Default New (to me) Suburban 2500, tow vehicle

After months of research and daily scouring of eBay and Craiglist ads in dozens of cities, I finally landed myself a solid 2500-series Suburban that will primarily be used as a tow vehicle for camping. Drove a few hours (with the whole family) last week and bought a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban C2500. I had no problem with old body style (pre-2000) but wasn't originally going for something that old... however this '95 had all the features I was looking for. It is a 1-owner vehicle and is the body is rust free (very rare even for Suburbans 10 years newer than this one) with 98k miles... quite low for these 2500-series models that were bought to drive/tow long and hard in most cases. Finding any 2500 with under 150k miles, even on much newer models, was quite a challenge. It'* got the 454 (7.4L) engine with 4:10 gears, yielding a 10,000# maximum towing capacity.

The original owner was an elderly man who passed away 2 years ago. The Suburban was parked and garaged until recently, when it was advertised and sold by the owner'* adult grandson. It drove back home around 200 miles just fine, with a few minor issues that I'll be getting taken care of along with fluid changes, etc. from being stored for a long time. A mechanic friend of mine is checking it out this week, to see what be might notice that I didn't while driving.

With my tow vehicle purchased and in the driveway, I'm excited to take the next step into finding a nice travel trailer and being an RV owner again! I had a big Class A (bus style) motorhome in the past, but this will be my first heavy trailering experience.

And my history of GM ownership continues! I'll probably be passing on my 2000 Buick LeSabre to my oldest nephew for his first car. It'* got 170k miles but should still have many more to go.
