Air bag warning

Hi all,
I am new to this sight and it looks GREAT :)
I have a 2007 Yukon SLT and once in a while(when driving) the Air bag light comes on(in Dash) and the message "service air bag " appears in the message center.when the truck is shut off ,and restarted, sometimes it will stay off and will not appear again for sometimes a couple of days.
I have connected the coder to it(when message does not appear) and there is no Code??
Any suggestion,please HELP!!
Thanks a million in advance
VA

A basic scanner won't see the code because it's from the Body Control Module. The usual problem is the clock spring in the steering wheel that connects the driver's air bag. You won't know for sure until you get the actual code (while the Sevice Air Bag light is on).

I say that's the usual problem because that's the one air bag wiring harness that undergoes constant movement as you turn the steering wheel.

Thanks ,for the info.
Is there a "ha ha" easy way to check this myself?

That or one of your crash sensors has been damaged or is defective.
