Default 06 Denali Envoy lemon

We recently purchased our Envoy from a used car lot and it worked perfectly for three weeks. By our first payment we had spent $900 to replace a fuel pump, which failed less then 24 hours after the repairs. The fuel pump was replaced again and two days later the car was undriveable again (dead battery, key stuck in the ignition, no reaction at all when trying to turn on before key got stuck). By the second payment we spent another $450 to have a solenoid replaced. The car came back from that repair shop with the steering column disassembled and now the battery light comes on with the slightest touch of the ignition, key or no key, and the ignition shuts off if you hit a bump on the road. A month after the last "repairs" we are having the same issues again with the keys becoming stuck and for some reason the dead battery. We are on the hook for a $14000 loan on a constantly broken down vehicle and are grasping at straws trying to figure out the root of the problem with no money left to fix it. Any ideas on what may be causing all these issues??? Thanks

Thumbs down

Who the heck did you buy this pig from?

If you are paying $14K on a vehicle, and it doesn't come with some kind of warranty for at least 90 days, you shouldn't have bought the vehicle....

What kind of dealer was this? Same place that repaired it? Who gives a vehicle back with a steering column disassembled?.....sounds like you bought it from some fly by night dealer, and if you brought it back to them for repairs, they saw you coming......replace a fuel pump, and then it fails in 24 hours.....same place for all repairs?

It was purchased from a used dealership in Arlington, WA called Mission Motors who rave about their Christian values and got to the point of threatening us after calling them trying to work out a deal on repairs. We were given a one month, 1000 mile warranty upon purchase but moved 60 miles north of the dealership not too long after purchasing the vehicle so conveniently the 1000 miles were long used up before the vehicle broke down. The fuel pump was replaced by a firestone repair shop because it broke down on a Sunday and they were the only place open on a weekend. The solenoid was replaced by a backyard mechanic called Flat Black Automotive who was recommended to us by someone at the local O'Reillys part store, they are the ones that left everything torn apart. It cost us $75 to have it towed a few blocks so we couldn't afford to have it towed back to the dealership and we didn't trust them to make correct repairs when they already lied about the condition of the vehicle. No one has made the effort to inspect the entire vehicle to try to find the source of the problem and I think the last place just caused more problems because the ignition and battery light were not a problem before they got a hold of it...

$14,000 is high for a used Envoy. Anyone claiming about their Religious values I shy away from. What selonoid was actually replaced and for what reason? The disassembled steering column make one wonder if they stole or switched parts to fix another rig. I would investigate for any fraud against this company or complaints from other customers.

My boyfriend checked on prices and apparently that was what it blue booked for the condition we thought it was in and for having 110K miles. I know next to nothing about cars so I apologize if this makes no sense, but according the last repair shop the solenoid that was replaced was somehow connected to the shifter. That our problem was that it was not going completely into park which was causing the battery to die which in turn was causing the key to become stuck. They said it was a fairly common problem for these vehicles (this was in response to having our fuel pump replaced by Firestone when it was actually functional the whole time). We finally had to bite the bullet last night and had it towed 30 miles away to another repair shop so I am hoping they will actually put the effort into finding and fixing the issue instead of blindly replacing parts.
