2014 Silverado 5.3 4wd trans whine and chevy shake
Purchased used august 2017-27,000 mi currently 92,000 mi. When i purchased i had and still have a transmission transmission whine in gears 1-3.The dealership has repeatedly told me it is normal, doesnt so sound good. I had trans flush at abt 40,000, fluid was black. Dealershipdid not seem to think that was a problem.
The truck develops a cyclical vibration between 35-75 or so mph. I drive in cruise control most the time on different road surfaces. The truck has an extra rear leaf and front leveling shims it is balanced and rotated every 6-7 thousnd miles. New tires every 12 months with alignment and have alignment checked abt every 6 months. Vibration starts after driving a few miles as trans warms up and is worse in hot weather. I just left truck with my dealership or a week and told them to drive theheck out of it. Note on repair sheet “ could not duplicate” . They drove it a whole 38 miles. I am frustrated and dissapointed. My warranty is out in 8,000 miles. I feel like the are ignoring until it is not warranty. At wits end!

trans whine and shake
I have asked but they won't ride more than a few miles. The service Mgr went out with me once and said he felt it but wanted mechanic to driv e it. Guess I will try it again.
thanks for response

I agree with Tech II, if you can duplicate then you drive it with technician in the car. The dealership will often say "yeah we'll look for that cyclical vibration" then look for any vibration and not notice the one you're noticing.
So . . . 65,000 miles in 13 months? 60,000 per year is a high duty cycle. The car will handle it fine with proper maintenance.
Is any large portion of this mileage on dirt/gravel/etc.?
It shouldn't do this. They should fix it. If it is normal then they should be easily able to show you another that does it. The internet seems to be filled with complaints about first gear while and occasional flaring. That doesn't make it right, but does show that you're not the only one. First, Second, and Third gear whine doesn't seem to be common enough that I've found it.
So I understand what we are talking about, is a relatively fast vibration (like 40+ cycle per second)? . . . as opposed to a slower vibration like a wheel out of balance (like 5-10 cycles per second)?
If this is the one lots of folks are talking about, I've seen a few fix it by swapping out rear the drive shaft for a custom-built unit. Many have said that the factory unit balances fine but is out of round or otherwise not true.
~48 days left at the rate you drive. Knowing how some of these issues work out at the dealership, it might be wise to go get your drive shaft checked at a reputable shop. Have them check balance and geometry for out of round. If they find something, you'll have ammunition to go back to the dealership with.
