but it doesn't answer the question, why the mirror did not revert back to normal when disconnected.....

Glad you got it fixed though......

could it be that the voltage sent into the mirror was higher than it should have been or the mirror got hotter than it should have and caused permanent damage to the electrochromic element inside?
