2000 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 5.3 Front End Issue

Wellllll, I’m back. Posted some issues before with a water leak. Since I’ve fixed that I’ve ran into a new problem. Here a bit of info leading up to when I noticed the issue.

I recently got a new set of rims & tires. For the past 6 months I’ve been running 18 x 10 wheels with 285/65/18 Cooper STT Pro. Well a good friend of mine sold me a set of 16 x 10 with 305/70/16 Toyo Open Country. Changed set ups due to I drive a lot and the noise from the coopers were driving me nuts.

After changing the wheels and tires I have noticed a kind of roaring noise coming from what sounds like the front driver side. You don’t start hearing it until you get around 30 mph. Gets louder with speed. Sounds like I’m still running mud graps. There is even a lot of vibration in the steering.

I checked to see if my 4WD was engaged. ( it’s not )
I jacked the truck up and began spinning the wheel on each side of the front and to me the driver side seems louder than the passenger but it’s not the same noise as I here going down the road. I did check the front diff fluid and it was about a 1/4 quart low. Filled it up & no change.

Prior to finding this new noise I have already replaced a few parts several months back.

Repairs below are for driver & passenger side

New upper control arm
New lower ball joint
New wheel hub assembly
New inner & outter tie rods
New sway bar end links
New sway bar bushings

My first question is, Would CV axles make this type of noise?

& No, there is no clicking when making left or right hand turns. No movement in wheel hub assembly.

If the CV axle would not make this type of noise?

Any help will be highly appreciated before I go throwing $$$ at it.

Since it happened after the tire swap I would start there.

Start with CV Axles or tires? I guess it could be a balancing is...🤔

I’ll take it by a local tire shop and have them check balancing on each one and the CV Axle.

I will post an update when they’re finished.

Bu was it there before the tire swap because of all the tire noise the previous ones made?

Well, Local tire shop says driver side wheel bearing is shot & the tires need to be replaced.

Awesome news for a Monday morning. 😅

I thought these were 'decent' tires?

Local tire shop said they have high & low spots. Recommended me get brand new ones. These have about 70% tread.

High and low spots, sounds like a balance issue.
