A federal court judge denied an emergency motion Thursday thatwould have required General Motors to tell recalled car owners to stop driving those vehicles.

I see no need for a park it order. The recall has been identified and as long as they have announced it and made ever effort to inform current owners they need to bring their car in for the service to be done, it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree. GM has already issued a temporary "preventative" for the situation. It'* all up to the owner to bring it in for service now.

Did they do this with the whole unintended acceleration issue with Toyota?

Even the suggestion of a 'park it now' order is absolutely stupid. The issue has been identified, a temporary solution has been identified, and will resolve the issue until the permanent fix can be put in place by the dealer.

The one who proposed it needs to be put in an affected HHR (to add insult to injury), with a ton of crap on the keyring, and driven in to a wall at high speeds.
