In that article on TH440/4T60 Specs. Where is the vacum modulator which controls shift firmness? I think that would be a cool thing to work with a little, and if mine is adjustable, hell yeah, save my arse some time, plus be able to have the firmer shifts, which may save my tranny! :-)

Has anyone else noticed that the max torque for the trannies is right at the limit of what the SSEi's produce? No wonder so many have tranny problems, including me.

Funny, there's more headroom on the 4T65E(HD), but they don't last as long as the SSEi's with the 4T60E? I can't figure that one out. I'm well over the benchmark for torque on the 4T60, but am just now crapping my trans at 110k?

All these links that DrJay put together are fantastic. All are destined for Techinfo very soon.

Why does the 4L60 handle up to 350 ft-lbs, and the 4T60 only handle 280?

I thought it was basically the same tranny, minus the fact one is for RWD and one for FWD.

Simply configuration and space constraints. That's the key difference.

Found a good site tonight for rebuild kits for both the 60 and the 65. Part#'s and drawings make it easy.

Check out the Torque Convertors too, many different stall speeds :D

Those ratings are for the light duty version of the 4T65-E (RPO MN3/MN15). 3800 SC (L67) are mated to a heavy duty version of the 4T65-E (RPO MN7) with beefed-up components and higher engine TQ rating.

They are completely different transmissions.
