I am looking for some information of aftermarket chrome centre caps for my 17" Bonneville SSEi rims.

It appears the the Pontiac dart in the centre of the caps is a bit of a problem for me to deal with. Chrome paint will not work. Peter informed me that the paint product that was suggested is not effective in this application.

So after talking with Jeanie and Ryan (Alien). They informed me that their rims have painted plastic centre caps. Will a rim manufacturer have chrome painted centre caps for sale? I plan on matchin the diameter (obviously). I need some direction as to where to start looking.

Paulnold: You are located in Ottawa, thats a good CDN start for me. Do you think the manufacturer that made you rims offers caps for sale?

Painted plastic is what I want to do. Going with no caps and chrome lugs is not really an option that I want to explore.

Any idea?

Jim, the caps you need are 6 inches in diameter too

Are the chrome caps for Jeanie'* rims and anyone else who has chrome rims, painted chrome, or 'dipped?' I wonder if there realy is a paint that is chrome. Because the stuff I bought was more like a slightly shinier aluminum. On the back of the can (after I bought it) it says: "not meant to be represented as having the same characteristics as real chrome." I guess that goes for the look of chrome too.

as far as center caps go, my brothers aren't chrome, their some kind of plated plastic, I don't think they actually make chrome center caps for aftermarket rims anyway,

Maybe I was not clear enough, sorry bout that Mista.

I want aftermarket plastic centre caps with a 6' diameter. Not interested in chrome caps. Any suggestions on where I can get some.

Thanks for the dimension Peter.

I dunno how well that'd hook up.... Definetly see if you could just manufacture something for them...

I'm sure all rims use different ways of attatching the center caps.

Good point :?

Another bump in the road, Peter, could you take apart the centre cap and snap some pics on how the tabs are inserted and hold the dang thing stays together?

Thx bro

Any other ideas?

*if I have to go with chrome lugs then so be it *

Jim I just had a thought. the newer swoopies have a different cap. The Pontiac dart is much smaller in diameter thatn the ones that you have. you could see if anyone that has the newer swoopies wants to trade with your caps. With that smaller diameter pontiac dart you could do the Olds symbol or something Let me get some pics to show you

Those new ones stick out quite a bit. Maybe they could be dremeled off?
