I was looking for some newer 9007 bulbs that have a more blueish tint, as Audi's, BMW's etc, have from the factory. Basically something more HID-like...without spending the money. These are 8500K according to the auction. Silvertars are only a little over 4000K I believe, and are not TOO blue.

Would 8500K be too hot for stock wiring/harnesses (I asked the guy and he said it would be safe since the wattage is 55/65W.) ? What are people's thoughts on these bulbs? Thanks.

I don't like that part. I would contact the maker directly and see what they have to say about thier product. 8500K sounds a little fishy, too....

The wavelength (color temperature) of the lamps don't relate to the wattage rating.

Bill, that's what I thought. Because Silverstars are the same wattage, yet EuroDezigns claim they reach 8500K (compared to 4000K) AND it's 100% safe and no need for higher temp rated sockets. :?

I found some at Pepboys that were 5500K and did need new sockets... I just don't want to have to install new sockets, so I just went with the Silverstars.

the 5000k or whatever refers to the color of the light output.

Wattage refers to electricity used, and could be correlated to heat output some.

Off topic.... is it weird that I saw the title of this thread and thought of Lucy Lawless?

there are bulbs that go all the way up into the 9000k range. But life its been said before, its just the range in which the color is seen. Higher the "K" rating, the higher white its going to seem. The ones that required a new socket..stay away from. I had those in the blazer and had nothing but problems. Silverstars will outlast anything Ive had. Havent had to change bulbs in either the pathfinder, blaze, or bonne. all are silverstars.

Not true.. 4100 - 5300K is closest thing to white.. anythin above that you're going into the blue range of the spectrum
