Default My little bastard story

Wednesday afternoon, I had a chance to clear off some snow from Franky and the 93. As the front of the green hood emerged from the powery cocoon, I found the passenger'* headlight smashed and the glass on the ground just below it. WTF was the first thing that came to mind. The second was that one of the little skateboarding juvinal delinquents that comb the neighborhood was responsible. However, being the nice gut that I am, I gave the benefit of the doubt as it could have been a stray rock from the plow trucks that came by a couple of days earlier.

Last night I noticed a youth skatboarding in the parking lot of the resturant next door to my house. A little voice inside of me said "check the car". Sure enough, the driver'* headlight was smashed. I grabed my largest Mag Lite and walked next door to interrogate my first suspect. He provided me with some information and names so I decided to call the police to take his information for a report. He said that he heard about the incident and had given me his thoughts on who might have done such a thing. I asked him for his name and address in case I needed to talk to him further.

Cops finally showed up and instructed me to wait by the car as he would inspect it after talking to the kid. That gave me another opportunity to inspect the car and in doing so found both fog lights to be broken and a dent at the front edge of the hood that could easily be seen as the first point of impact before smashing the driver'* light. The officer later inspected the damage and said that a report would be filed.

Today as I and most of my neighbors were digging out from the snow storm, I had a chance to talk to some of them only to find out that the neighbor across the street had seen one of a group of three skateboarders perform an Ollie onto the hood of the car which broke the head light and deliberately finish off the fog light. The neighbor yelled out the window which cause the kids to scatter so a foot chase was futile. Another younger neighbor came by and I was able to get further information on the three suspects I had in mind.

Now I'm off to have a chat with the parents... The first house I stopped at contained my main suspect in last summer'* mailbox slaying but I didn't think he was the one that damaged the car... at least the driver'* side. His parents were very nice and seemed like they've been through more than one conference regarding the behavior of their child. I made it clear to them that I didn't think he was the one who did it but knew he has information. The kid was tight lipped as a clam so it was off to suspect #2. I approached his house to find what I thought to Mom and suspect shoveling the driveway and introduced myself. I explained the reason for my visit and ran down the list of names that I had aquired earlier. I think this took both of them by surprise which made it very easy for #2 to spill the beans. Ironically, it was the little bastard that I spoke to the night earlier and gave the information to the police and me.

Attempts to contact the culprit'* parent were unsucessfull. This has given me time to collect information regarding replacement costs of the parts and additional funds for the body repair. My estimate is $417 for only the driver'* headlight, fog light and hood damage. Unfortunately, I really can't pin the other headlight and fog light on him as there were no witnesses. I hope to contact the father tomorrow to see if he makes restitution or I have his child arrested for vandalism and giving police a false statement.

Normally, I'd be pissed but the situation is a bit different. I've already sold the car to Singscountry and she and son are taking delevery of the car this weekend. Fortunately, there are people like her and JimmyFloyd that understand and have been an unbelievable help. Sings will be brining JF supplied parts to make the 93 nearly as complete as it was when she bought it.

Kudos to both of you.

Good job both....

Interesting side note is Mortehl had a DS headlight as a spare. I spoke to him after talking to Sings today. He said..tell her if she needs it..I'll have it there Sunday morning. Pretty good...until a couple hours later he calls and says....."Tell her I can't give it to her...I'm going to need it" Not the 95 I just sold to him...say it'* not so!

He'll be posting his story tomorrow ....

that is aweful, i would def say that if the dude did the one headlight, then the other one was probably done at the hands of him also, people just dont let ya have anything nice anymore, just wait though till he gets a nice car and someone does that to him, then he will know how it feels
