Default wipers won't shut off

I have a 2005 GMC Seirra that just won't let me shut off the wipers. I was using the delayed feature and it all of a sudden went to constant slow speed. I tried to shut them off to no avail. They do go to high speed, but just won't shut off. Any comments on this would be appeciated.
Thanks, Bert

Most wiper motors have a set of points inside that allow the motor to "park", ie shut off with the blades in their parked position. If these points can not be "tripped" the motor wil continue to run. Check to see that the wiper arms are not blocked from their full travel. Sometimes leaves, twigs and other crud can get trapped below the windshield line and impeede the wiper arms. Clean out this area if necessary to see if this will fix the problem. Sometimes a sharp tap on the motor with a rubber mallet will jar stuck points, but if this does stop the motor running, the fix is only temporay and the motor will need to be rebuilt or replaced.

The points that detect the park position can fail on an intermittent basis. If it starts happening again you might have to install a new wiper motor. In the meantime (if you haven't already) locate where the wiper fuse is in case you have to pull it to stop the wipers.

Have u tried using the wiper washer squirter and then immediately turn to off.
I am not sure if the delay on the vehicle has a delay control pc board or not.
