Ok, exactly how light are the SLE SC'*?
Ok, since I have my 95 SLE SC for sale I have pulled all the garbage out that I usually carry with me (tools, parts, 100'* of CD'*, etc...).
Anyhow last night, my cousin was wondering the difference in weight between his 97 GTP coupe and my brothers 97 SSEi.
So I road out to the scale with him in his 97 GTP Coupe. He had about 50 lbs of unnecessaries, 3/4 tank of gas and with no one in the car he tipped the scales @ 3640 lbs.
We then came back to the house, he got in my brothers SSEi and I jumped in my SLE SC. He got on the scale first and the showed 3640 with 1/4 tank of gas and about 30 lbs of junk in the trunk.
So he'* all excited that his car weighs about 50 lbs less than the SSEi.
Then I pull on the scale with nothing in the car except what it would have had on the dealers lot new, minus rear floor mats and the window stickers. I had 1/8 tank of gas, but that was barely enough to put me over 3400......3410 to be exact.
Now thinking back to track days when I stripped the trunk bare, took the back seat and floor mats out, as well as removed the drivers head lamp that probably dropped the cars weight to around 3300. Then I only weigh about 155 with the helmet, so that brings the weight back up, but still well under 3500.
May not say so much for HP when looking at my 1/4 #'*, but wow, I thought the car had weighed another 50 lbs before. :?
I'll go take a shot tonight if the tank isn't too full, but it'* definitely a KODAK moment for us racers.

Greyhare and I were discussing this very thing at work yesterday. There'* about a 200 to 300 pound difference between my L67 SLE and my L67 SSEi. Estimate based on different times at the scales in varying weight 'loading' conditions, but it'* a fair estimate based on the scale numbers I have for both cars.
The sunroof adds a significant amount of weight, and not all SLE'* have it, but mine does, so where'* the 200 pound difference?

Then the lumbar seats probably weigh 15 lbs more each, and the HUD system weighs a good 20 lbs , wiring and all.
The rest of the weight, I suppose the extra lettering on the emblems.

Spring weight on most. FE1 springs are lighter. But not on mine. I have FE2 (although slightly smaller in diameter than my SSEi'* FE2 springs, so theres a pound per spring maybe?).
AL7 seats can't weigh much more than my dual leather 6-ways, other than the weight of the pump for the lumbar functions (and the weight of the air in the chambers ).
Side cladding is a little.
We may never know until I completely disassemble both cars and weigh every part.

Are there sound deadening differences between regular Bonnevilles vs. the SSEi?
Some guys over on the Toyota Cressida board that I run have stripped out their interiors... a good 80lbs in there, and the Cress was somewhat along the lines of Bonneville in terms of luxo/sport and initial cost when new...

Hey Repins! I was formally Pooey, Racin_Poo from Box Designs, small world huh. I used to wonder what the hell a Bonneville was, never saw one until I started driving one.
I can imagine little things at a time adding to 200 pounds, the seats are a tad bigger in the SSEI, the HUD, more gauges = more wires, more wires = more tape and zip ties, how about the 8 peice sound system, the embroided floor mats, the bigger rear view mirror, the CCR, ELC, bigger transmission, the air pump, is there a spare tire difference? Side cladding too, oh and on my SLE, I have no badges.
A difference in the rims may make a difference too and your tire selection.

The taillights have an extra lense, trunk lid mat, big exhaust tips, thicker suspension parts, dual air bags, stock amp, trunk accessory bag.
What would make the tranny heavier? A spider gear?
