ok so to take a look at my air filter i remove the cover off the PCM, then take out the screws that join the two pieces ot the intake together right? i was gonna just go ahead and try it but i have a horrible reputation for taking things apart and not putting them back together right.

There are two screws that hold the airbox together, and I think there are two others that secure the airbox onto the frame. You'll have to remove all four of these to get at the filter. You shouldnt have to monkey with the PCM cover at all.
