Default Ding Ding....Check Gauges...OIL PRESSURE LOOWW! Now RAP RAP!

WTF!

Can I get a break with this car or what!
On a warm motor I get the Ding and Oil gauge is in the red!
Driving is at about 30

I am thinking of trying the Oil Pressure switch...You guys agree?
Would my best bet to get this at gmdirectparts.com?

Thanks and

You might want to use a mechanical gauge to see if your oil pressure is actually low or not.

on my new engine the car was doing that. i hooked up a manual add on gauge to check and it was holding near 80 psi. i went to autozone and i think it was 20.00 and got the pressure regulator thing and it went back to 80 psi on my gauge and no problems since.

Hi....

Im at the normal idle around 900 to a G
oil level is perfect...

It was actually like this before the intake, intake gasket, head gasket change...
but i have not had the car long enough to drive...now that its all fixed and back in my hands
this is still there...and now its dingin and a bit lower then before...

On first start its between 40 and 60 cold......then is slowly goes down....down ....down...

I will definatley try that switch first....easier for me to do that then get someone to test it...
Just annoyed! Thanks guys....

The low oil pressure has always scared me. I would have it checked with a real oil pressure gauge soon. Low oil pressure has been known to destroy the 3800 engines. You need to know if it really has low pressure, or if it'* just the sensor.

I am going to get that oil pressure switch went i get a chance this week...
if no better...then I will get the pressure checked....

Thanks for the link Deathrat....
Just to let you know....There is NO abnormal noises from the motor at any time...

Only 2 issues I have with car are 1 - This oil pressure issue...
and 2 - I notice a decrease on the volt meter down to 9ish volts...then it swings
back up to 14v....does this at least once each time i drive it...
which was being discuss here..
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...426&highlight=
and i have not had time to look at the posts and see if I need to fix something...

If they're no noises from the bottom end , then it may just be a faulty Oil Sender then. I hope for your case that'* all it is! Mine was was the Conn Rod Bearings giving out! 20 Hours Labour & $3000 CAN later was NOT an option for me! Especially after just spending 14.5 hours of my own time 2 weeks before doing the top end! i sold my car (92 SE EGRless) because of this.

Good news and bad news...

I found the switch and replaced it...

Bad news.....Nothing has changed...
Cold start...40-50
drops as she warms all the way to half way in the red on idle
about 20 to 30 on cruise....

I will have access to a manual gauge on Saturday..but I am pretty sure its
gonna tell me the same thing....

I will tell you there are NO engine noises and the thing runs great..?!?!

uhg...Im start to really hate this car.....

COME ON CURSE.....TAKE ME AWAY!
