Default Newbee question about 2002 SE 3800 to 1999 3800 engine swap

Hello, I am new to this forum so I hope I am posting in the correct area. I have a 1999 SE 3800 Bonneville SE with a blown engine (due to the inherent intake problem). I have located a 3800 engine out of a 2002 Bonneville and was wondering if I can put the 3800 from the 2002 Bonneville into my 1999 Bonneville. Thanks. Clint

Yup. Both the 2002 and 1999 used the Series II 3800. Just make sure the 2002 isn't an SSEi otherwise you'll be getting a supercharged motor that will require a PCM tune, unless of course you want a supercharged motor.

Yes, that will work like Brian mentioned. Don't swap the oil pan or oil filter adapter. You'll enjoy the structural aluminum pan and the oil filter not being over the frame rail.
