Default intercooled bonne?

has anybody done or considered this mod? If so how would one do it? (im not sure how the thing would hook up) the local stereo/rice shop has one on the shelf, he said he would sell it cheap because hes had it for a long time. I may wanna try this if its an option. How bout HP or torque gains?

from the pictures that i see.....with that extra 6 inches or so under the */c i think ud have to mod your hood in-order to get it to fit......itd be tight tho im new so im not sure what the gains would be.....itd be a nice addition tho im sure :o

That one is for a Series II. I don't know, but I would assume it would not fit a series I.

Nobody buys that POS Thrasher Intercooler anymore. The best intercooler out right now IMO is the ZZP because it only costs $999 (it is $1199, but you get a $200 store credit with it). It would take a little custom fabricating to make it fit a bonneville, but it works. Scott Cook obviously had one on his SSEi.

It is an extra 2", and fits almost perfectly under the stock hood.

Gains depend on the car and how the engine flows, but gains are usually around 40hp ish assuming you can get the correct pulley size. If you don't get a smaller pulley to run more boost it is a pointless mod. The ZZP Intercooler allowed us to go from running 10.7psi on pump gas, to being able to run 14.6psi on pump gas. That is basically 4psi boost, and ~40hp. It makes a HUGE difference, you feel it and hear it the first time you step on the gas. (You hear the sound of the eaton whining a lot more)

Buying an intercooler from a stereo shop is not a good idea, it would not work on your engine unless it was designed for a 3800, it will end up being a rip off.

As stated above, that is a Series II intercooler, and won't work on the Series I. However.....there are some ideas floating around for the Series I that may come about in the next year. A bit cheaper, too. Maybe not the same performance gain, but a gain, and a better price.

I will say NO MORE. Regardless of pressure.

All the intercooler does is cool off the intake air....since the blower heats it up when it compresses it. So you have to cool that air AFTER it'* compressed, and before it goes into the cylinders. Right under the Eaton is really the only way.

There'* 2 basic types of intercoolers. Air to air, although not as efficient, does work.
Air to water is a different story. You circulate water by means of a small pump through the intercooler, and out to another radiator in front of the car. The cool water pulls the heat from the air passing through it.
