Default picked up some heated side mirrors and have a question :>

Picked these up off a 90SSE today w/ the different adapter plates too (not in pics) as I noticed those are different from non heated so if you do this you gotta grab those too. Hooked them up to a computer power supply already to test em out. THEY BOTH GET WARM! HAHA! and the motors work too. Not bad for $28 CDN

I was wondering if anyone knows of a nice factory switch that I could pirate from whatever kind of car that I could use for a switch to turn them on and off with. I know the factory ran them off rear defrost but I would rather have them separate. Just throw in a relay and a switch. I just would prefer to NOT use a fog light switch if I can get away with it because I would like this to look on the factory side. THX in advance for any ideas. Might sound a little crazy but I am in Canada. It would be nice to have them separate from rear defrost on the highways n stuff.

Best I could suggest is find something non-descriptive for a switch. I've used unlabeled buttons for things like this in the past.

Try looking into European cars. I think VW and Audis had separate switches for heated mirrors (though do not take my word as gospel). And you really should look into a timer. Anything with heating elements, if you notice, are on timer circuits for a reason. Mainly because they draw alot of power, but also to prolong the life of the heater elements.

If you wanna go with a stock look, try and find a fog light switch from q 96-99. it'* small, and it has the little liight in it to remind you when they're on...

All you need is the glass and two wires from each side. Not the whole mirror or adapter.

You can swap the heated glass from those into your housings.

Is there pics of someone that has swapped just the glass? I just ask because the glass is a different bevel shape on the top right, which makes it look like its not going to fit because the bevel is about twice the size of the stock glass. Im just not sure how to open these mirrors without destroying them hehe. When I was at the bone yard though I noticed 1989 and before had smaller heated mirrior that the glas sat way inside of, more like what I have on my car now size mirrors. Where as the 90 and 91 SSEs had the bigger mirrors, at least in Canada every single one at the yard did. They are a bit longer too, and deeper. Have more aerodynamic shape to them. I kinda like the bigger mirrors though. They look a bit euro if you ask me similar to the ones found on the early 90'* benzes. Plus I need to paint my mirrors anyway so they need to come off, they are rock chipped good.
