Removing Rearview Mirror Glue...
I'm installing a new temp/compass mirror and figured now would be as good a time as any to raise the height of the new mirror, meaning I'll have to removed the glued-on mounting button from the old one. What is the best method for removing the old mirror button from the windshield? Blow-dryer and razor blade? Wouldn't even mess with it but I'm 6'-5" and the mirror blocks my line of sight to the front-right at intersections, etc.
Thanks.
Thanks.

well just a NEW razor blade should work just fine.
but I dont see why you need to move the mirror base up the window, thats what the adjustable pedistal is for... I move the mirror till it touchs the roof on all the cars I drive (same reason as you) and thats always works fine... infact, thats the best youy can get :?

your mirror should have 2 ball joints on it. One ball mounted to the base, and another ball mounted to the mirror. With the length of the shaft that hold the mirror up, you have almost 5-6" of vertical travel

Cripes! I'm not even going to pretend that I knew that. You both saved me a lot of work. I had always just seen the one joint on the mirror.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Live and learn. I have that same problem in my Mercury Grand Marquis. I can't tell you how many times I have come close to accidents because of that blind spot. I've gotten use to ducking my head down to look under that mirror, but I am sure there is a pedistal on that mirror also so I'm going to check on readjusting it. Thanks for the tip!
