I believe you have the 4T60E. But 97 may be a split-year of production. The easy way to tell is to check your RPO label. 4T60'* got the 3.06, 4T65'* got the 3.05 ratio.
FW2 RPO (3.06) you have a 4T60E.
F83 RPO (3.05) you have a 4T65E.
All L67'* have the 4T65E(hd) with 2.93 gears (FR3).
FW2 RPO (3.06) you have a 4T60E.
F83 RPO (3.05) you have a 4T65E.

More info:
Memory served me well. GMPD does in fact show that 97 was a split year for the L36 in the H bodies. At least the Bonnevilles. The housing part number gives it away. L67'* have the 65E, L36'* have the 60E.
Check your RPO codes for the axle ratios I posted above just as a sanity check. Let us know which one you have.

Looks like it. Now look under your trans at the pan for confirmation. It'll say right on it.
A shift kit would help the FEEL of the shifts and extend the life of your bands and clutches. It won't really do alot for performance, at least not at this point.
