They are cutting it because alot more Grand Prix'* are on the road if you havent noticed. It like the Mustang principle, odds are if you throw a rock you will hit a Mustang (or Grand Prix). And it'* a good car for the money. And I think the GX/P is like a final hurrah for the Bonneville. I will make sure to make fun of Grand Prix guys when I am running 13'* all motor using all their experience and mods.

I don't think they can kill the Bonneville. They sell around 70,000 a year I think. When it the 2000 generation appeared there was a 100% increase in sales for the month. The nameplate has been around for over 35 years. I think they are liars.

speedyguy: they put an oldsmobile 4.0L v8 in an intrigue one time.

Intrigues are the same frame as the gp, so it can be done.

There is another company that has a 5.0L cadillac northstar engine in a lumina.

A Motortrend hinted at Pontiac was working out the Bonne. "Like the rest of the Pontiac line, Grand Am will have shed its cladding by '05. The division'* lineup is in flux, with Bob Lutz ordering myriad changes to the entire GM line. One casualty is the Pontiac Banner, which was the plan for an upper-midsize car to take the place of the Bonneville, taking on such affordable sport sedans as Acura'* TL." Pg 25 April 2002 Issue
Line up any one of those Acuras in the street I'll rip 'em all and I got 130K miles on my engine.
Anyway, I hadn't heard a model year until this post, and I find it a strange coincidence that '04, the year of the alledged death of the bonne, is also the year that the GP gets the new body style it'* been needing for years (as well as elimanating the coupe version).

Long live Bonneville!!

*sigh* This is tragic. If it'* true, I might need to seek crisis counselling!!! I guess I had better get going on getting my '03 G/xp...
Think I can get a $40,000 loan at 19? lol
I doubt a petition would be very effective.

Well, we could try to team up with bonneville intensity; or if we were really daring we could have a national get-together thing; you know like saturn does.

If enough people got involved we could have regionals, as long as it looks well organized - like we can make say 6 (some arbitrary number for now) regions, but we all have our shin-dig on the last Sunday in August or something. As long as it grabs the attention of Bob Lutz and crew, we might have something.
