Default What is that piece called?

The winter really tore up the front piece that runs along the front end. I call it the scraper piece, because all it does is scrape the pavement and crack apart going up my drive.
What is it called?
I removed it..
Does it serve a purpose, or can I leave it off?
What are people doing?

Air dam I believe.

However the actual name most people call them is "broken"... I've only seen one car where this was intact.

Still intact on my car. It'* kind of beaten up, but not too bad.

I vote for leaving it on. It was put there for a reason by GM engineers. The likely purpose is to help the cooling system.

It'* there for cooling. They aren't expensive. I've replaced the one on the Zilla in the past. 20-something bucks IIRC.

96-99 SSEi/SSE and later SLE only.

92-95 is slightly different, but similar.

Keep in mind that back then, we weren't positive about it'* effect on cooling efficiency. I was looking at high-speed stability, and believe it or not, it made a difference.

I wish I could say I noticed a difference when I had one.
