How long your stock tranny last?
Transmission shops keep telling me that having one for 125,000 is "pushing it." And that I should look into buying another or rebuilding my current. Mine shifts very well and cant even tell when it goes into overdrive, especially when its colder outside.
When I changed my transmissiong fluid I checked the bottom of the pan and filter for large shavings but all the shavings were sooo tiny and just they thinly coated the pan and magnet, and I am sure that the fluid hadnt been changed in a while due to the fact the filter broke at the connection when I pulled it out, and made me severely "freak out". lol The fluid was also very clean and not burnt.
But I have heard of peoples trannys lasting a very long time.
I mines the 4T60-E.

I had a 88 Bonneville LE that was pushing 180,000 miles and the transmission was still going strong. My parents bought in with 13,000 miles on it and I got it with 99,000. And they said they had NEVER changed the transmission filter or fluid. The first time it was changed was at about 105,000. The magnite on the pan was completely covered in gunk. I didn't even relize it had a hole in the center of it until I pulled it off to clean it. Little to say it shifted a lot better after the fluid and filter change. The coils and computer went bad so it is just parked in the woods. I am kinda mad at my self for not trying to fix it but my 96' Bonneville came along and I lost interst in it. I would say if your transmission is still shifting good and not slipping it should last a while. I know I abused mine and it just took it and smiled.

Man, I just went to up to town and my car ran sooo good with the outside temperature about 55-60 degrees, but when its hot outside, 70+ it seems to run sluggish and hesitates when I try to accelerate. Could this be a pcm problem or something else?

185 000 km and its as strong as the day it was made. I think I have the only car that can hold 1500RPM at 90 km/h (55mph)
I'm very happy with my tranny and I don't expect problems for a long while...knock on wood

It'* a mystery how long I have had mine. I got the engine replaced after the other one blew at 150K miles or so. The same transaxle was kept, so I don't know how much miles it has on it. It runs great though, and I have never noticed any problems. It shifts when it is supposed to, and it is smooth. It might have been rebuilt at a time when I didn't have the car. If not, then this thing is really strong.

The one on my 89 was fine at 252,000 when I sold it... I did change the fluid regularly. I noticed it shifted harshly into reverse, but that was the only problem.
The one on my 93 has 137,000. It is fine. I do change it every 20,000-30,000 or so.

Tranny flushes...well, I usually do mine every 80 000 km, or 50 000 miles. My trans is top notch.
When I go in for winter or spring servicing, I just get them to have a look. But, I'm sure you can do it on your own
