That was the same thing both Andrew and Mike said when the idea was proposed to them. Should've done it sooner.
However, Jeff hasn't been very vocal about the finances until I called him last week to ask. He'* a trooper. I'd like to state that I didn't have to twist his arm (good thing too, cuz he'* the boss).
For all those that have wanted to donate in the past, this is a good way to do it, and get something for yourself at the same time.

I've thought it was a great idea since the ads were put at the top of the forum. If we can make it ad-free again I have no problem throwing in an extra 2 or 3 dollars since the shirts are super cheap anyway..same with the hats/decalls.
In order to provide additional funding we SHOULD add more items, We of course have the Cafe Press Store but i think other items are in order..
Isnt it possible for someone here (points at haro) to make the products in the CAFE PRESS store for cheaper, such as the got boost shirts (they are $25 a piece shipped in the store if I recall) I also run a Cafe-express store to finance a forum i own but the profit margin does not even pay for 1/2 the costs.
Perhaps the people that sell stuff on the forums should be required to throw in a little extra to the forum for the free use of the FOR SALE SECTION considering selling an item on ebay will cost you at least 1-2 dollars extra or like $5 worth of fees for a $100 item. This particular idea may be extemeley contraverisal I can see that right now but its just an idea. I'm not super supportive of it, but considering the number of people that list something for sale, and the ones that sell stuff often, perhaps they should be encouraged, not required to throw in a little extra to keep the forum going.
I am opposed to ClubGPs setup since it seems like the members who donate the MOST seem to be the ones that can MAKE THE DECISIONS on how the forum is run, this is not a good plan, everyone should have equal say in the direction of the forum.
the idea of a vendor, running or even supporting the forum is also a terrible idea

Sounds like a good plan. Also I would suggest that if the purchaser wanted to make the donation a few dollars more then that should be allowed as well.

We don't know if it will be enough. No way of knowing until we try.
Keep in mind, for the time being, we're talking the $1 upcharge and NO OTHER OPTIONS. We'll see how that goes.
Harofreak has no control over the site store. That'* Mike'* realm. Management of the store is his sole responsibility.
Surcharges on the For Sale section will not happen. It'* too difficult to manage.
Vendors will not contribute to the site. We will not allow it. Sponsorship breeds favoritism.
As far as adding a dollar or two to each purchase, I'd have to have that approved by Jeff. It'* his site, and he'* been resistant to donations up until today. Of any kind. I might be able to convince him to allow an ADDITIONAL dollar on each purchase. I've known Jeff for 5 years, and he'* as tough to crack as jr's3800 and I are.
NOTE:
The idea as proposed in NOTICE are the changes being made. We'll see how it goes. I'm not being an ******* here. I was given the green light pending Mike and Andrew'* agreement for THAT idea. Jeff still owns the site. Further changes MIGHT be made later pending his approval.
Let'* not propose changes before we even try this, and let'* keep the comments about finding cheaper servers out of this also.
Opinions on the plan are great. Changing the current direction will not happen. Not until we try this first.
Andrew and Mike have specific instructions. These instructions are derived from my instructions from Jeff. Keep your ideas related to the product they have to offer, and whether you think the dollar upcharge is enough, not enough, or too much.
My apologies for not making this clear initially. It is my fault, and I'm not trying to squash ideas here.

I think the upcharge on Bonneville gear is great, knowing that money will go twoards keeping this place up and running will give me reason to drop some coin on a shirt or hat or two. (hey, just cause I drive Jeeps doesn't mean there aren't 3800s in my family that I wrench on )

Thanks, jeep-bitch.
Let me re-iterate.......I'm not slamming the door on ideas. We'll have as many ideas as we have active members, but a path forward has already been chosen. I didn't make myself clear enough in my first post. I appreciate every idea that every member here has, but a path was predetermined already, and we have to try that first.
