Default GoodYears or Michelin??

Hey guys, It'* almost time for new tires and with the 17 inch wheels, these are the two major players. You guys like the Michelins better or the stock GoodYears?

Thanks

Michelins = hard...will last a long time
Goodyears = soft...depends how you drive will determine life.

Depends what you want. Personally, I would choose a tire like GY Eagle RS-A over say ooo Michy Energy MXV4'* or something.

The only Michelins I would get are Pilots....

Me too. I'd buy some Kumhos from tirerack.com.

Toyo Proxes TPT'* which are comparable to the RS-A'*, but are better, will work fine on your 03 SLE.

I have michelin hydroedges, they have a good tight grip, are all season, and tread water nicely.

Well, I had 235/60/16s on my Aurora when I first got it. Good looking tire, but couldnt hold its pressure as it aged. I found it to be harsh riding and the sidewalls had terrible cracking despite lots of tread life. When I got my SSEi rims, I bought 4 Goodyear RS-As (235/55/17) and really liked em. Softer, a bit more grippy. I found them to be a better performing tire.

Recently I test drove an 03 Aurora 4.0 on Energys and go figure, the passenger side front tire....low on air pressure ( :? ) and still had good tread life. 0 for 2 in my books.

I suggest Toyo or Kumho for a more affordable performance feel and Goodyears for a more common household brand approach as a tire option.

Forget those RSA'* and get some Goodyear GT-HR'*. Best tire I've ever bought.
