Some questions
I don't actually own a Bonneville. I own a Cavalier. Hope you guys don't mind
I've swapped my front spindles with 93 Bonneville spindles in order to use the bigger brakes. The Cavalier bolt pattern is 5x100, and in order to use the 5 sets of wheels I have, I need to have a 5x100 pattern on the bearing. I have tossed around quite a few ideas, sleeving the Cavalier bearing to fit te Bonneville spindle (that died due to strength issues of cast vs machine steel and where the holes for the bearing would be), then I modified that idea to include a complete replacement outer surface of the spindle using the Bonneville bearing bolt holes for attachment (that isn't fully dead yet, but it will be soon, due to cost issues). So, my plan now is to have the Bonneville bearing re-drilled for 5x100.
This swap has been done by quite a few J body owners, but no one has ever tried to keep the 5x100 pattern. The only other mod needed is to swap the outer CV joint to the Bonneville piece. I will need to do that if I use the Bonneville bearing. I would like to have all the wear items replaceable (bearing, caliper, rotor etc) without custom work. (I realize there really is no way around re-drilling the rotors, no matter what route I take).
1) I have heard that a pre 91 H body bearing will bolt up to the 92+ spindle. Is this true? If so, it will be much cheaper, since I don't run ABS.
2) are the axles the same between <91 and 92+? (or at least the outer CV)
3) does anyone know of any cars that use the same outer CV, but have a 5x100 pattern? I've seen Celebritys listed as using the same axles as H bodies, and I'm pretty sure they have a 5x100 pattern.
4) are there any other calipers (besides the factory H body) that will work with the H body spindle? I've read a few posts in this site about W body spindles with F body calipers.
Thanks in advance! If anyone is interested in checking out my car, you can look me up on www.v6z24.com with the same username.

Aint this overkill, by putting on a large sedans' brake setup onto a coupe? What is the purpose you guys do this? And, you probably want to ask this question in the lounge, since its a Bonneville part going on to a different vehicle, instead of a different vehicle part going on to a Bonneville.

Its not really overkill, especially when you're road racing/auto-xing. Our factory brakes are 10.5", all the aftermarket "big brake" kits available are at least 11.5". Some of us just prefer to use factory parts instead of paying $1k+ for brakes.
Thanks for letting me know where to post!

This is quasi-Bonneville, so I'll put it in "General Chat"
I think you are asking questions that few people here will know how to answer. Few brake swaps have been done onto Bonnies, so few have actually taken a look at their spindles, let alone know what the difference between their'* and a Cavi'*.
If I were you and didn't have 5 sets of Cavi wheels sitting around, I'd put on some Bonnie crosslaces.
I hope someone here has your answers.

i have to agree with bill here. That is how a lot of my projects and ideas start, and some die. I love the junkyard for testing out new ideas since they usually have most of the cars there. You might also want to check into purchasing or borrowing a 1993 Manual for some of the bonneville specific questions since you are using 93 parts already. As for the 87-91, might want to check that manual out as well, or sit in the junkyard for a while.
I see where you are looking at this for an Auto-x purpose and this is the first tim I have heard of it being done. Good luck with it.
